Every year beneath the Strawberry Moon, the Gardens become unusually quiet.
Not silent.
Waiting.
Observers frequently report finding strawberry blossoms where none had grown before. Most disappear before sunrise. Those that remain often produce no fruit at all.
The few berries that do ripen should not be harvested.
They are almost always gone before morning.
Small footprints have occasionally been discovered beneath the leaves, though no creature has ever admitted to making them.
Lanterns carried through the Gardens during the Strawberry Moon have been known to glow slightly warmer than usual, as though recognizing something just beyond the edge of the path.
Those watching carefully may notice movement among the strawberry patches.
Do not approach.
Should a tiny creature pause beneath the leaves to watch you…
pretend you didn’t notice.
They rarely stay long once they’ve been seen.
The oldest field journals contain only one final remark, written in hurried script across the bottom of the page:
“Some blossoms open only when no one is looking.”
